James Lyones short film “Last Days” will be screening during this year’s Newark International Film Festival which will be held September 8th-10th.

James Lyones is a veteran Fire Captain in Newark who wears many hats. He is also a working actor, producer, filmmaker and CEO of Lyones Films.

Lyones was inspired to write, produce and shoot Last Days surrounding the overwhelming amounts of cancer diagnoses in the community and how it not only affects the patient, but also the loved ones. Last Days chronicles a weekend where a husband and wife spend time together trying to cope with devastating news they receive.

Last Days was shot over two days in October of 2016 in and around Newark. As a native Newark Filmmaker it was important for Mr. Lyones to include the beauty that Newark has to offer. The opening montage captures all that is great in the city. The landmarks, landscape and everyday lives of Newark residents.

While everyday life occurs around the husband, played by James Lyones himself, and his costar, Adriana Spencer who plays his lovely wife, the sudden reality of tragedy strikes and life seemingly stands still for this loving couple. The film also stars Michele Baldwin, who is also the films producer , as the doctor. The director of photography and editor is Stan ‘Fame’ Little along with additional cameramen Winslow Braithwaite and Vaughn Christion.

Other accolades for Lyones include being accepted to The Newark Short Film Race and Hollywood Screenings Film Festival. Lyones also received the Southern Shorts Award for acting, directing, producing and cinematography. Be on the lookout for Lyones next highly anticipated project entitled, “The Wolves”.
