NJPAC Announces Re-Opening on September 12 and Launches New Initiatives

NJPAC (New Jersey Performing Arts Center), based out of Newark, has announced that they will resume its performances on September 12. Until then, NJPAC has launched a virtual performing arts initiative called NJPAC In Your Living Room, which is a curated collection of past Arts Center performances, content from partners, educational videos for children and much more.

NJPAC insists that the show must go on, wherever you are located. Tune into live events, which include DJ dance parties, arts workshops and NJPAC Backstage celebrity interviews. Virtual performances this week include NJPAC Backstage Interview with Jazz Singer Samara Joy Mclendon, Wellness Wednesday with Dance Master Brandon Jones, and The New Best Practices: Leadership in a Time of Crisis.

Additionally, NJPAC has launched a series of events and initiatives focused on promoting racial equality in an effort to bring the community together, and to encourage everyone to take part in the movement to ensure civil rights for all. On their website, www.njpac.org, you can find resources that will guide you to take action, in the voting booth and elsewhere, and join conversations and discussions that can help educate on racial injustice issues.

Ding Food Market Successfully Holds Lobster Roll Pop-Up, with More to Come!

On Sunday, June 7, Ding Food Market held their first ever Lobster Roll Pop-Up event, with great success. Located conveniently at 241 Harrison Ave, the event started at 11 a.m. and ran until all the lobster rolls sold out. All of the lobster was sold at market price.

Ding Food Market offers the Harrison area Korean and Japanese Meal takeaway and grocery options. The success of this event has inspired the local market to propose more pop-up options for the future, including: Fresh Shucked-to-Order $1 Oyster Pop-Up, Smoked Shortrib BBQ Pop-Up, Thai Kai Yang Pop-Up or Steamer Clams Dipped in Clarified Butter Pop-Up. Harrison Residents Now Have Access to Kerny Virtual Library

Residents of Harrison are now able to access Kearny Library’s Virtual resources by emailing kearnylibrarycovid19@gmail.com and providing your names and town of residence to receive access. Kearny’s virtual library consists of audio books, ebooks, free music, online learning and much more.

Children’s programs have been a hit lately, including Kids Yoga, Miss Joanne’s Story Time, 30 Poems in 30 Days and a Turtle Back Zoo Virtual Tour. All of these programs are perfect for keeping the little ones busy and learning, while cooped up inside.

The Shebelieves Cup will return to Red Bull Arena on Sunday, March 8 featuring Japan’s Women’s National Team vs. England and United States Women’s National Team vs. Spain.

Kickoff for Japan vs. England is set for 2:15 p.m., with the US and Spain kicking off at 5 p.m.
The SheBelieves Cup is the showcase event for the campaign and brings together many of the world’s most talented women soccer players to compete in the U.S., providing a stage to shine the spotlight on role models (athletes and non-athletes alike) and showcase their accomplishments both on the field and in culture at large.

A Symposium with Nimbus Dance Works

Price Institute in partnership  with the New Jersey Performing Arts Center present A Dance Symposium with Nimbus Dance Works.  The concert features Esther, an edgy retelling of the Old Testament tale, and the company’s signature work, Memo, including student guest dancers from Newark Arts High School.  Admission is free but tickets must be reserved by contacting NJPAC.
