Chambers Family Carousel Reopening Celebration at Military Park in Newark on October 16

Newark City Parks will celebrate the reopening of the Chambers Family Carousel on Friday, October 16, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Military Park in downtown Newark. The afternoon event will include music, food, giveaways, and carousel rides.

Rides on the carousel will be free for all visitors, with support from the MCJ Amelior Foundation. The handcrafted carousel was donated by Newark philanthropist Ray Chambers and his family and features 16 horses with designs drawn from Newark’s history. The carousel also appears in the Military Park logo.

Military Park has served as a public gathering space in Newark since the city was founded in 1666. A full calendar of upcoming events is available on the Newark City Parks website.
