Newark Museum of Art Hosts May Family Saturdays Throughout the Month

Families looking for a creative outing this May have plenty of reason to visit the Newark Museum of Art. The museum is offering Family Saturdays every weekend in May — on the 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th — from noon to 4 p.m. in the Main Building’s South Wing. The programming is free with general admission, and tickets can be reserved in advance on the museum’s website.

Each Saturday is packed with hands-on activities for kids of different ages. Younger children ages 2 to 5 can join Creative Play at 12:15 p.m., a guided gallery adventure led by museum educators that wraps up with a themed craft. This month’s focus is on the magic of spring, with activities like designing and painting butterflies and making hummingbird spinners.

From 1 to 4 p.m., the Family Drop-In session invites children ages 5 and up to create landscape drawings inspired by the flowers, skies, and scenery of the season.

To reserve tickets make sure to visit the Newark Museum of Art’s website.
