As a long-time Red Bulls fan and season ticket holder for the past two years, Ryan Meizinger is greatly familiar with Harrison, NJ and its growth into a lively lifestyle center and popular commuter hub into Manhattan.
When he was looking to shorten his work commute into midtown’s Flatiron district from Rahway, NJ, the Hudson County city’s Riverbend District, a multi-phased residential neighborhood from developer Advance Realty Investors, was a common-sense choice that would provide the best-of-both-worlds. Nestled between the Red Bull Arena and Harrison PATH train station, the location would allow him to enjoy his favorite leisure-time activity and quickly reach his job in New York City.
“At the time I moved to Harrison I was still commuting to work and getting into New York City was much quicker,” Ryan said. “As a Red Bulls fan, it also made getting to games much more convenient.”
His first apartment was at Steel Works, a 286-home rental property completed in 2017 at 1200 Frank E. Rodgers Boulevard within the Riverbend District. It quickly lived up to his expectations in terms of luxury, quality and convenience. Two years later he would be joined by his girlfriend Eliza Solman who moved to Harrison from her Downtown Jersey City apartment. When needing more space, the couple stayed loyal to the Riverbend, moving to a home right next door to Steel Works in Advance’s 280-home rental property, Cobalt Lofts, which was completed in 2019.
“I was familiar with Harrison’s budding vibrancy from visiting Ryan.” Eliza added. “We decided to stay because it provided value and was close to the PATH. I still travel to New York City during the work week. I can take the PATH to Wall Street and the subway to my office. The commute is easier from Harrison than some of Jersey City’s outlying neighborhoods.”
This year the couple celebrated a significant milestone when they became engaged. With an exciting lifestyle change on the horizon, Ryan and Eliza considered becoming first-time homebuyers, but the for-sale market was not in a state where they felt comfortable purchasing.
That didn’t stop them from treating themselves to a brand-new home. The Wyldes, the latest high-end rental introduced by Advance in the Riverbend, opened its leasing program earlier this year just steps from Cobalt Lofts. The couple couldn’t resist visiting to see what the developer had in store for the ultra-luxurious five-story building.
“We made an appointment to tour The Wyldes to see what it was all about,” said Ryan. “We thought it would be similar to Steel Works and Cobalt Lofts. We quickly found that while it matched their quality and craftsmanship, it surpassed their lifestyle offerings with a wealth of new amenities. There was a different energy from the moment you walked in. The welcoming lobby was bright and open with large windows. The tour was very impressive.”
“We didn’t think we’d like The Wyldes, but we were blown away,” added Eliza. “The homes have light-filled interiors. The private outdoor space was large with an expansive balcony. I love to cook and the large kitchen was a huge bonus. The building truly checked all the boxes.”
While Ryan and Eliza still plan to purchase in the future, The Wyldes is the perfect place to start their lives as husband and wife. They are anxiously waiting to move into their two-bedroom apartment this month.
“It’s a nice step to take before buying,” Ryan said. “We didn’t want a cookie cutter apartment, and the apartments at The Wyldes certainly are not.”
Living in the Riverbend District has not only provided the couple a modern, upscale lifestyle, but also a front row seat to the revitalization that’s occurred in Harrison.
“I remember Harrison at the start of its transformation and you can really see its progress,” commented Ryan. “When I first started attending games it was basically the Red Bulls Arena and a Five Guys. It’s promising to see the businesses that have opened and the commercial investment that is happening. Harrison now has all the important components of a lifestyle community.”
Eliza added, “There’s a lot of variety in dining and social opportunities in Harrison now. You don’t need to get on the PATH to enjoy food, entertainment and nightlife. There’re endless options right here.”
