When: Sat, March 9, 2019 – 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Where: Newark Museum – 49 Washington Street Newark, NJ 07102
Join the Newark Museum’s Luce Artist-in-Residence, Matthew Brandt, in a hands-on workshop that encourages experimentation and play with glass, minerals, and light to make a unique series of photograms. Brandt’s work explores materials to make photographic pictures that address the concept of the lens itself. As an alternative investigation into lens-based photography, Brandt worked with glass and sediments as a photographic subject in creating works for the Museum’s exhibition, Matthew Brandt:Rocks and Eagles.
During a four-hour, one-day workshop, participants will tour the exhibition with the artist and then create one-of-a-kind photograms using glass and minerals to alter, bend, and resist light. Each participant will produce a series of 8 in. x 10 in. photograms.
